I have worked in the National Museum of Ireland since 2005, beginning front of house in Education for the Natural History Museum, and now as Documentation Officer. My background is in zoology, and I particularly love freshwater ecology as well as birds. My museum career has engendered a deep appreciation of the history of museum collecting as well as an interest in the ethics of our profession. My main work areas are currently – leading a cataloguing team, planning and implementing major collections moves, overseeing the collections management systems, exhibition loans, devising policy and procedure, and finally, steering and editing our departmental blog!
I am a member of the UK Registrars Group, and am Vice-Chair of Irish Registrars Group (Documentation) committee.
