  • Straight from the horse's mouth: Lessons from a recent redevelopment project
    Gregg, J., Jackson, B.

In our poster we will present some lessons learnt from the recent major redevelopment project at the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing and Sporting Art in Newmarket. These lessons are drawn from planning through to opening and everything in between.

Focussing around a case study of developing science displays from scratch, we will look at the challenges of interweaving natural science collections into a diverse museum display from both a conservation and curatorial perspective. This will incorporate audience testing, feedback, funder requirements and unusual display cases! We also discuss the satisfaction of creating new displays, bringing loans and Museum collections out of storage and increasing public access and engagement to both science content and collections.
