I am the Membership Secretary which means I am the person who looks after membership records, mailing and email lists and subscriptions. I am also the one who chases you for late payments! I help keep you up to date with information and my role is one of those essential ‘behind the scenes’ jobs that keeps the Association running with some funds in the coffers. I work closely with the Treasurer to check or track subs, payments and membership details.

I am the curator of the Zoology Section of the Hunterian Museum, which is the University of Glasgow’s museum with collections in art, medicine, technology, coins, natural sciences, archaeology, ethnography and history. My job involves all different aspects of being a museum curator, including collections care and management, collections research, conservation, teaching, public understanding of science, exhibitions, grant applications, policy and strategic planning and more! The job requires a ‘jill of all trades’ approach but I am particularly interested in the management and conservation of wet collections and osteology. Taxon-wise I have a soft spot for the Amphibia and Reptiles but spiders and corals also are looking alluring…

I am interested in the history of Zoology particularly in the 18th century and not surprisingly, as he founded the current version of the Zoology museum, the life and work of Sir John Graham Kerr, former Regius Professor of Zoology at Glasgow. I am currently researching the chequered history of the herpetology collections here.

Finally, as a side line, I look after the medical tissue specimens so have interests in anatomy and pathology collections.
